Introducing Buccaneer

The concept of Buccaneer came about as a result of trying to balance the pursuit of gnarly outdoor stuff with all of the other demands that life throws at us.

 

What is Buccaneer?

"Buccaneer is a location based mobile app specifically aimed at action and adventure sports/activities, connecting places and locations (beaches, breaks, trails, hills, mountains and crags) to the people that use them and with the service providers and local amenities that can facilitate them. 
 
Hard won local knowledge is typically difficult to find online and is normally inefficiently buried within forums. Via social media and the sports community Buccaneer will aim to be the most relevant source of real time location data across all action sport disciplines.”

 

For me personally, I love surfing but seldom get to go given I live on the West Sussex / Surrey border. Mountain biking is the activity I get to do the most, I have a decent bike, there is a group of good people I ride with regularly and we tend to ride in similar places, I’m lucky enough to live near miles of purpose built single track in the Surrey Hills.

That said I also love water sports. I recently tried to learn to Kite Surf but found it difficult for all of the variables to line up to enable me to do it… The weather conditions need to be right, I need to be able to get to a suitable beach and there needs to be a pro /instructor willing and able to splash about in the shore break with me.

Most of us manage our lives to a greater or lesser extent via a smart device of some sort these days and most communications are now achieved via the use of text or WhatsApp. BRAIN STORM / EPIPHANY!!!!

Action and adventure sport enthusiasts are at least interested if not already taking part in more than one discipline too, but knowledge to access additional sports can be difficult to find unless you already know people taking part.

Imagine an App where you could view a location guide specific to the sport you are interested in, get a read-out of what is happening and what amenities are at the location… I can arrange an activity with my mates or a pro at a spot and then communicate the details and/or hilarious banter… enter Buccaneer…
